The Isles of Bermuda are formed by a huge underwater volcano that rises up over 15000 feet from the ocean floor. The southern edge of the volcano pokes above the ocean’s waves and forms the land mass of Bermuda. On the Southern side the reef is less than a quarter mile away from the shore line but on the north side it extends up to 12 miles away from the shore and forms an impenetrable barrier around the island. There are several breaks in the reef or “cuts” “Eastern Blue Cut” is one of the larger ones. The flow of food and nutrients through this area make it one of the most spectacular snorkeling sites in the world.
Eastern Blue Cut is protected from ALL fishing! This means that the fish are super plentiful, much bigger and less cautious than at almost any other snorkeling site in Bermuda.
ÜberVida is the perfect vessel for a FULL day excursion to this incredible area. The Yacht is licensed to carry 150 guests, but we do not allow the numbers to get above 50 so there is always Plenty of space to CHILLAX.
ÜberVida is so large and wide she does not rock very much and is very steady in the ocean.
The ride out takes 75 minutes and is a great time to find a spot on the yacht and start to relax. The crew will take your drink order (no alcohol before snorkeling) and also deliver your top of the line snorkeling equipment (all equipment is thoroughly cleansed and sanitized after each use.
Once we arrive at the North Barrier Reef you will be shown how to use the equipment and given a safety brief. ÜberVida has an enormous swim platform and 2 deep comfortable swim ladders that facilitate easy access to or from the ocean.
You can feel free to snorkel, swim, or just relax on board the yacht in one of the several custom made lounge chairs or couches.
The bar is full service and the crew will not let you get thirsty. The buffet is open as soon as the yacht is moored and sports a fantastic lunch menu.
Typically we will spend 2.5 – 3 hours at the reef. When times up ÜberVida cruises back into the great sound to a group of small islands called Paradise Lakes. These picturesque islands are home to a variety of birds, turtles and other amazing marine life. Not to mention Million Dollar summer homes. We take a slow cruise through the flat calm pristine waters before finally disembarking at front street Hamilton.
